Abstract
Summary: The effect of material inhalation of 10% oxygen upon the human fetus was studied under careful conditions. Fetal acidosis developed in 1 patient with pre‐eclampsia and significant FHR changes (late dips) in 2 others. Although the study was abandoned for ethical reasons it is thought that the development of an oxygen stress test for the fetus is possible.
