Abstract

The article analyzes the effect of the manganese addition on the thermal and electrical properties of the (ZrCu)90-xAl10Mnx alloy where x=0; 0.5; 1; 2. The glassy alloy ribbons were produced by arc-melting and melt spinning technique. The structure of the samples was examined by X-ray diffractometry. The thermal properties were tested by differential scanning calorimetry. Four-point method was used to measure the electrical resistance. The addition of manganese significantly increases the resistivity of the alloys, as well as increases the strain sensitivity coefficient from 2.6 to 5.1. The obtained alloys are a potential substitute for alloys based on noble metals for use as a sensitive element of strain gauges.
