Abstract

Studies were conducted to determine the effect of thiamine-deficiency on T. cruzi infections in rats. The following conclusions are drawn from the data presented. 1. 1. Parasitemias in thiamine-defieient rats were generally higher than in the three control groups except in instances of concomitant respiratory infection. 2. 2. In most instances lesions were more extensive and parasites were more common in heart tissues from thiamine-deficient animals than in heart tissues from the three control groups.
