Abstract

AbstractThe exact solution for the unsteady magnetohydrodynamic flow of dusty fluid through a circular cylinder is investigated. We assume that the dust particles are uniformly scattered throughout the flow field. An external magnetic force is imposed across the cylinder surface, normal to the flow direction. The equations governing the flow of fluid and dust particles are solved by employing the variable separable method. The closed-form expressions for both clean fluid velocity and dust particle velocity are achieved. The impact of physical parameters on the flow of fluid and dust particle velocities is studied at length. It is perceived that both the velocity distributions (fluid and dust particles) decrease with an increase in magnetic parameter. Further, it is observed that the dust particle velocity is greater than the clean fluid velocity.KeywordsDusty fluidMHDCircular cylinderVariable separable methodBessel function
