Abstract

There have been numerous studies of the effect of magnesium oxide on sinter strength. Several investigations have shown that magnesium has a positive effect on sinter strength. At the same time, other researchers hold that magnesium oxide has no effect on the strength of sinter. One of the authors of these works, in the period 1963-1967, studied the effect of MgO on the strength of commercial sinter obtained from high-grade concentrates produced at the Novo-Krivoy Rog Mining and Concentration Combine by a wet magnetic process. The iron content of the concentrate was 65-66%.
