Abstract

Objective To study the effect of low dose intravenous ketorolac tromethamine combined with phloroglucinol on relieving renal colic treatment. Methods 140 patients with renal colic were randomly divided into 3 groups receiving intravenous 30 mg ketorolac tromethamine/80 mg phloroglucinol (Group Ⅰ,n=46),60 mg ketorolac tromethamine/80 mg phloroglucinol (Group Ⅱ,n=47) or intramuscular 100 mg pethidine/intravenous 10 mg anisodamine (Group Ⅲ,n=47) respectively.Analgesic effect, pain relief time,side-effect of therapy were observed in all patients after administration of 10,20,40 mins respectively. Results The rate of pain relief and total efficiency in group Ⅰ were significantly higher than that of group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ at 10 min after administration(19.56% vs 0,8.51%,P=0.005) (76.9% vs 40.42%,55.31%,P--0.002).No significant difference was found among 3 groups at 40 min after administration (P=0.861,P=-0.869).The pain relief time in group Ⅰ was significantly shorter than those of group Ⅱ and group Ⅲ [(14.3 ± 9.5) mins vs (23.8 ± 5.4) mins,(18.2 ± 8.3) mins] (F =46.32,P<0.05).Incidences of sideeffect of group Ⅰ and group Ⅱ were significantly lower than that of group Ⅲ (8.69%,14.89% vs 82.97%,P=0.000).Conclusion Low dose intravenous ketorolac tromethamine combined with phloroglucinol is effective in the early treatment of renal colic with less side-effect.
