Abstract

This paper examines the nonlinear dynamics of the voltage-fed forward converter. The discrete iterative mapping between the inductor current and the capacitor voltage is presented and uses to study the nonlinear behavior of the forward converter. First of all, we show the bifurcation diagram with the leakage inductance as the bifurcation parameter, from which we notice the bifurcation points. Secondly, we design the simulation circuit in Pspice and get the time-domain waveforms for the inductor current and the capacitor voltage and the trajectories in the phase plane. At last, we make the experimental setup and change a set of transformers with different values of leakage inductance corresponding to the bifurcation diagram. Comparison between the numerical, simulation and experimental results indicates that the leakage inductance can exert effectively influence on the nonlinear dynamics of the forward converter.
