Abstract

Methanol extracts of leaves and bark of Cleistanthus collinus (Benth. & Hook) and Prosopis juliflora (Sw.) DC. were tested for its anti fungal activity by ‘poison food method’. The extracts were found effective to inhibit the growth of white rot and brown rot fungi. Further, these extracts were incorporated with copper sulphate and potassium dichromate as replacement of arsenic compound in copper chrome arsenic (CCA) preservative and they were evaluated against wood rotting fungi. The results showed that both the complex mixtures were effective for protection against wood decaying fungi.
