Abstract

Objective To investigate the safety and effect of laser assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK)for older myopes.Methods 76 older myopic patients(150 eyes)received LASIK and were followed up,the surgical safety and the effect at 1 month,3 month and 6 month after operation were evaluated.Results All of the LASIK were done successfully,149 eyes got prospective uncorrected vision.At 1 month,3 month and 6 month after surgery,the rate of dry eye were 46.1%(35 cases),30.3 %(23 cases),22.4%(17 cases)respectively ; the rate of night vision disturbance were 26.0%(39 eyes),17.33%(26eyes),12.0%(18 eyes);the rate of near reading disturbance or visual fatigue were 59.21%(45 cases)、46.05%(35 cases)、26.32%(20 cases).six months after LASIK,hypenopia appeared in 5 cases.Conclusion For older myopes,LASIK is a safety and effective surgery.Dry eye,night vision disturbance and postoperative hyperopia are still problems.
