Abstract

Objective To investigate the effect of Kinesio taping combined with Mckenzie therapy in the treatment of chronic low back pain. Methods Sixty patients with chronic low back pain were randomly divided into group A and group B, 30 cases in each group. The patients in group A received Mckenzie therapy, and in group B Kinesio taping combined with Mckenzie therapy. Visual analogue scale (VAS) and modified JOA score were used to evaluate the effects. Results VAS was lower after the treatment in group A and B (3.9±1.0, 3.3±0.8) as compared with pre-treatment (7.1±1.0, 7.5±1.0) ; JOA score was higher (18.2±1.6, 21.4±1.6) after the treatment as compared with pre-treatment (9.6±1.3, 10.0±1.1) , which were significantly better in group B than those in group A, with statistically significant differences (P<0.05) . Conclusion Kinesio taping combined with Mckenzie therapy can reduce the low back pain and improve the lumbar vertebral function. Key words: Kinesio taping; Mckenzie therapy; Chronic disease
