Abstract
In this work, the interfacial structure and tensile strength of Ti particles reinforced AZ31 composites (Ti/AZ31) fabricated by hot-press sintering (HPS) were compared with Ti/AZ31 composites by cold-press sintering (CPS). Our work revealed that the interfacial structure could affect the grain refinement of magnesium matrix composites (MMCs). Specially, compared to the submicron interfacial product and incoherent interface, the nano-sized interfacial product and semi-coherent interface showed higher efficiency in refining the grains of magnesium (Mg) matrix, then contributing to the strength of MMCs.
