Abstract

In space-time-frequency block coded orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (STFBC-OFDM), data symbols are encoded over several antennas, several symbol intervals, and several subcarriers. Thus, the influence of inter-code interference (ICI) on STFBC-OFDM is smaller than that on space-time block coded OFDM (STBC-OFDM) under time selective fading and that on space-frequency block coded OFDM (SFBC-OFDM) under frequency selective fading. Nevertheless, STFBC-OFDM suffers from ICI under time and frequency selective fading. In this paper, we investigate the effect of ICI cancellation on an STFBC-OFDM system under the time and frequency selective fading environment. Simulation results show that the performance of the proposed system with ICI cancellation at the fourth iteration is more than 3.5 [dB] better than that of the system without ICI cancellation.
