Abstract

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) have emerged as promising dyestuff sorbents due to their interlayer pluggability and high anion exchange capacity. Three kinds of flocculants (anionic, cationic and nonionic polyacrylamide) doped ZnMgAl LDHs were prepared by co-precipitation method. The influence of different polyacrylamide types and different amounts of polyacrylamide on the adsorption properties were evaluated. The results showed that the adsorptive capacity of methyl orange (MO) by LDH-c2 (prepared by co-precipitation method and the ratio of cationic intercalation with aluminum mass was 1:100) was 1251 mg/g. Flocculant intercalation might be an effective way to improve the adsorption performance of LDHs materials.
