Abstract

In the paper, different hydrogen action upon such metals as iron and palladium is attributed to the character of interaction of hydrogen atoms in a crystal lattice. It has been shown that if an effective interaction HH is attractive, then such a metal can be strengthened due to the hydrogen action and if this interaction is repulsive then the metal is apt to hydrogen brittleness.
