Abstract

Background: Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease characterized by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra. Inosine, a purine nucleoside, is known to produce anti-inflammatory effect, and neuroprotective effect of inosine in PD is also assumed to act through its metabolite, urate.
