Abstract

Localization in shear bands for monotonic and sequential tensile tests on copper single crystals is discussed in relation with macroscopical hardening variations and the interactions between the activated slip systems. Microscopical observations showed that the most intense shear bands appeared parallel to the traces of the activated slip planes. For the studied cases, the lowest localization thresholds were obtained for initial orientations close to [112]. The predeformation permitted to modify the conditions on lattice rotation.
