Abstract

Objective To explore the application effect of information-motivation-behavioral skills model theory in home pulmonary rehabilitation of patients with stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Methods Convenient sampling method was used to select 80 stable COPD patients meeting the exclusion criteria as the research object, and the random number table method was used to divide them into two groups, 40 cases each group.Patients in the control group received routine discharge guidance and telephone follow-up.The patients in the experimental group received the home care model based on the information-motivation-behavioral skills model, including providing information support for patients with COPD pulmonary rehabilitation exercise, conducting motivational interviews with patients and their families, and using information technology or family follow-up to provide patients with pulmonary rehabilitation exercise skills intervention for 3 months. The changes of COPD home health knowledge, symptom management behavioral compliance, lung function, quality of life of the two groups were observed. Results At discharge, there were no statistically significant differences between the two groups in COPD home health knowledge, symptom management behavior compliance, lung function, and quality of life(P>0.05). After 3 months of intervention, patients in the experimental group were significantly better than those in the control group in terms of home health knowledge, symptom management behavior compliance, lung function and quality of life, with statistically significant differences(P<0.05). Conclusion Application of information-motivation-behavioral skills model theory in COPD patients with pulmonary rehabilitation at home can establish an effective home-based pulmonary rehabilitation program for patients with COPD, which effectively improves patients' knowledge of home health and their compliance with symptom management behaviors, thus improving their pulmonary function and quality of life.
