Abstract

Flame retardant polyether ester urethanes have been synthesized by reacting di phosphorous based polyether ester polyol with IPDI and HDI. Four sets of polyurethanes were prepared using two different NCO molar ratios. Physico-chemical properties of polyols and polyurethanes were measured. Instrumental techniques like FTIR, GPC, and NMR were used for the characterization of the polymers. LOI and UL-94 were used to determine the flame retardant properties of polyurethane films. The morphological study was done using SEM which reveals that an increase in NCO ratio increases microphase separation in polyurethanes. The thermal and mechanical properties of polyurethanes were determined using instrumental analysis. Chemical resistance properties of coated films were studied using acid and alkali and ionized water.
