Abstract

The optical properties of an ellipsoidal quantum dot (EQD) with parabolic confinement potential in the presence of polarized laser field are considered. The linear, nonlinear, total absorption coefficient and refractive index as functions of the incident photon energy, photon intensity and ellipsoidal parameter for the different values of the confinement strength are calculated. The results show that the total absorption coefficient of an EQD increases with increases in the ellipticity parameter and oscillator strength. The relative change in refractive index increases (decreases) with ellipticity parameter (oscillator strength). The results are in agreement with other investigations.
