Abstract

A catalyst containing CeO2–CuCl2–La2O3 supported on MgO-γ-Al2O3 with different impregnation models of La2O3 precursor was prepared by impregnation method and evaluated by ethane oxychlorination. Characteristic results showed that support impregnated with La2O3 precursor firstly, then co-impregnated the resultant sample with other component precursors enhances the probability of precipitation of copper species on the support. Moreover, more copper species can part in the reaction, which is responsible for the excellent catalytic activity. Besides, support impregnated with La2O3 precursor firstly benefits the dispersion of CeO2 and the formation of capping oxygen species [O2−,O−], which accelerates the conversion of redox couple (Cu+/Cu2+).
