Abstract
SummaryAdministration of NaNO3 solution to rats as their sole drinking fluid is accompanied by a significant elevation of systolic blood pressure. The threshold concentration for elevation of blood pressure lies between 0.15 and 0.175 m. Both concentration of NaNO3 solution and duration of treatment appear to be important factors in elevating blood pressure. Administration of NaNO3 is also accompanied by an increase in thyroid to body weight ratio.
