Abstract

To evaluate hybrid variability on ethanol concentrations and recovered coproducts, fourcommercial corn hybrids were processed through a modified E-mill dry grind corn process. In thisprocess germ and pericarp fiber were separated as coproducts prior to fermentation and endospermfiber after fermentation. Differences were observed in coproduct yield and ethanol concentrations.Mean final ethanol concentration ranged from 13.4 to 14.6% (v/v). On a dry basis (db), mean germ recovered was 9.17 0.23%, mean pericarp fiber was 7.76 1.21%, mean endosperm fiber was4.57 0.79% and mean DDGS was 7.54 1.45%.
