Abstract

This paper deals with the effect of humidity on Partial Discharge (PD) characteristics in a void with insulation-insulation configuration. The PD patterns were measured using the CIGRE Method-II specimen with various levels of relative humidity. Using the same experimental setup, the statistical time lag was also measured under periodical square HV pulses. The experimental results give us significant information about the effect of humidity on PD characteristics. Furthermore, the relation among surface resistance of samples, PD characteristics and the discharge time lags was investigated. The results suggest that the change of relative humidity in void strongly affect the surface resistance of void and the PD characteristics.
