Abstract

Objective: To improve upper extremity motor function and functional independence in stroke patient by using Task Oriented Approach in home based setting. The study used a quasi experimental pilot study design with a total number of 10 participant (n=10) were selected fromMethods: Goa, Upper extremity motor function was measured by Fugl-Meyer scale and functional status was measured by Functional Independence Measure. They undergone the task oriented intervention in home based setting for thrice a week for a 3 months. The results of the studyResults: revealed there is signicant difference in experimental group. The ndings showed signicant difference in the post tests of Fugl- meyer assessment upper extremity (FMA-UE) and FIM Pre and Post- test score with improvement in functional task after Home based Occupational Therapy task oriented Intervention with p-value , <0.00001( FMA-UE t =13.4264, FIM t = 38.06). This study suggests that usingConclusion: Home-based Occupational Therapy Task Oriented Approach is benecial in achieving upper-extremity function and functional independence in hemiplegic patient.
