Abstract

AbstractEffect of heat stress on 14CO2 assimilation and translocation by different parts was investigated in Indian mustard (Brassica juncea (L.) Czern.]. Heat stress reduced 14CO2 assimilation by leaves, stem and pods. Export of radioactive carbon from upper and lower leaves, upper and lower stem and stem of terminal raceme was inhibited in response to heat stress. Import of 14C‐photosynthates into pods was also inhibited by heat stress indicating reduction in sink strength of the developing pods.
