Abstract
The study presented involves the behavior of high-volume fly ash concrete at varying peak temperatures. Concrete cubes of 100 mm were prepared by replacing the cement with that of the fly ash in the range of 40–60% by weight. These concrete specimens, after 28 days curing, were exposed to varying temperatures ranging from 100 to 900 ◦C to investigate the influence of temperature on the behavior of fly ash concrete. It was observed that the compressive strength of the concrete increased initially with an increase in the temperature up to 300 ◦C; however, with further increase in the temperature the compressive strength was found to decrease. It was also observed that the loss of weight of the concrete increased with an increase in the temperature as well as fly ash content.
