Abstract

In a rain forest environment captures of tephritid fruit flies responding to cuelure and methyl eugenol increased as the height of the trap above ground was increased from 0.1 to 12.2 m. In an open forest environment dominated by eucalypts no effect of trap height was found. No effect of height on captures of flies with cuelure or methyl eugenol in a citrus orchard or in suburban gardens was found within the range 0.1–3.6 m above ground.
