Abstract
The effect of heat-flux conditions on the Rayleigh-B\'enard convection in a rarefied gas is investigated, extending instability to higher rarefaction rates compared with the isothermal walls case. The deviation from the Boussinesq limit with increasing compressibility is analyzed.
