Abstract

The experimental results of structure analysis, such as phase composition, grain size, strength and hardness of elinvar Ni-SPAN-C alloy 902 after different modes of heat treatment (quenching and ageing for stress relaxation) are presented in this study. It is made possible to obtain improved physical and mechanical properties than those acquired by conventional heat treatment. Heat treatment mode was selected that allowed to obtaining higher physical and mechanical properties of elinvar alloy compared to standard technology. It was shown that the improvement of alloy structure during thermal treatment is due to thermal stresses, as well as formation and dissolution of intermetallides.
