Abstract

Effect of glass heat treatment technology on upconversion (UC) luminescence in Er3+/Yb3+ co-doped NaYF4 oxyfluorode glass-ceramics (GC) was investigated. First, NaYF4 nanocrystals were precipitated from single process glasses after heat-treatment of different temperature, and the nanocrystals size of NaYF4 in the heat-treat temperature of 540 °C and 590 °C samples, the crystal size is 5 nm and 27 nm, respectively. Moreover, the two-step heating process obtain the different size nanocrystals (5 nm and 28 nm) in the same piece of glass. It is found that the UC luminescence properties of Er3+ ions were changed in accordance with the heat treatment mechanism, and the Er3+ concentration of nanocrystals. Compare with single process, the UC luminescence properties of two-step heat treatment of enhancement of green emission intensity and fluorescence strength.
