Abstract

The effect of annealing and SiC additions on the process of wear of electrolytic nickel-phosphorus (NiP) coatings under different friction conditions (sliding, fretting and fretting-corrosion) is studied. It is shown that the sliding friction causes much lower wear than the fretting wear and the fretting corrosion. The lowest wear under the friction conditions considered is exhibited by the heat treated NiP coating without SiC additions.
