Abstract

The process of consolidation settlement of soft soil ground is influenced not only by the nature of soft soil, load, but also by stress path that is the loading process. Using one-way compression consolidation test, through extending consolidation time of every level load, and sampling the soil from the depth of 1.5m and 4.5m, the effect of growth rate of load on strain aging and compression index of soft soil is studied. The results show that: total deformation, compression coefficient and secondary consolidation ratio for two depth soil increase with the growth rate of loading increasing. When the vertical stress is large, there is small effect of growth rate of load on compression coefficient. The performance of compression modulus is opposite with above conclusions. When ∆p/p>1, coefficient of consolidation decrease with pressure increasing, the coefficient of consolidation of ∆p/p 1 and ∆p/p=1. With pressure increasing, the secondary consolidation ratios have the same trend for the soil samples with different growth rate of load, and overall increase with growth rate of load increasing. The research results can provide reference for the design of soft ground in marsh.
