Abstract
The effect of the ground state correlations on the imaginary part of the nucleon-nucleus optical-model potential is qualitatively discussed within the random phase approximation (RPA). We also investigate the effect of terms of order higher than two in the microscopic nucleon-nucleus interaction. A rough estimate of both effects is given for the case K39+p.
