Abstract
This research documents the experimental investigation of distilled water and water-titanium oxide nanofluid pool boiling on a smooth and square, semi-circular, and triangular grooved surfaces. For better comparison, equal pitches were selected for all grooves. The results show that triangular grooves enhance heat transfer coefficients up to 120.0, 83.6, and 65.6% for distilled water, 0.2%, and 0.4% volume fraction nanofluids, respectively; while these values for semi-circular grooves are 50.6, 40.9, and 34.7%, respectively. The performance of the square grooves is the weakest among the considered geometries. Besides increasing the heating area, grooves affect the heat transfer coefficients, drastically.
