Abstract
This paper investigates power system small-signal oscillation stability as affected by a grid-connected SOFC (solid oxide fuel cell) power plant. It is demonstrated in the paper how the conventional and effective damping torque analysis can be applied to study the effect of the grid-connected FC (fuel cell) power generation on the damping of power system oscillations. It is concluded in the paper that the FC power generation can affect power system oscillation stability either positively or negatively, dependant of system load conditions. This conclusion is confirmed by the results of computation and non-linear simulation of an example power system integrated with a SOFC power plant.
