Abstract

Objectives: This study attempted to investigate the effects of grapeseed oil on hair after preparing and applying grape seed oil formulations to damaged hair. Methods: After applying them to samples (control group, an experimental group with damaged hair), changes were measured and analyzed. Results: L* values increased in the experimental group, compared to healthy hair. In terms of a* values, the experimental group was higher than the group with healthy hair. b* values increased in the experimental group, compared to the group with healthy hair. According to the measurement of the de-coloring values, they were the highest (18.05 NTU) on Day 1. From Day 5, no de-coloring was observed. In terms of tensile strength, the experimental group was lower than the group with healthy hair. In level 7, as grape seed oil contents rose, tensile strength increased. In terms of gloss, the experimental group was greater than the group with healthy hair. Conclusion: The results confirmed that grape seed oil is effective in improving hair texture by increasing tensile strength and reducing absorbance.
