Abstract

The effect of various gluconates on the hydration of portland cement has been studied employing isothermal microcalorimetry, x-ray diffraction and differential thermal analyses. The results indicate that gluconates act as retarders as follows: Sodium gluconate > Potassium gluconate > Magnesium gluconate > Calcium gluconate
