Abstract

An anode supported micro tubular SOFC has been studied because it has the high energy density and the thermal shock resistance. In this study, the relationship between the performance of the micro tubular cells and the thickness of the GDC electrolyte was examined at temperatures between 500 and 650 degrees C. The performance of the cell with 15.5μm thickness electrolyte was higher than the cell with 40μm thickness electrolyte at lower temperatures, but lower at higher temperatures. At lower temperatures, the ormic loss is dominant in the voltage drop, but at higher temperatures, the leakage of electron through the GDC electrolyte is main reason for the voltage drop.
