Abstract

The kinetic of ethanol production by Zymomonas mobilis was studied at high concentrations of fructose (10 to 25 %) on a minera me ium containing calcium pantothenate. Growth was strongly inhibited by aeration of the culture and to a lesser extent by high fructose levels. Both ZM1 and ZM4 strains showed high yields and conversions rates of fructose to ethanol. Then the mineral medium using calcium pantothenate prooved to be useful for larve scale production of ethanol.
