Abstract
A molybdenum-containing additive, AF-1, and two ashless additives, AF-2 and AF-3, were used as friction modifiers. The addition of the modifiers lowered the coefficient of friction. Test results on M-6z/10G/sub 1/ oil with various concentrations of the AF-1 additive are presented. The introduction of the modifier should reduce the mechanical losses and fuel consumption and increase the engine speed. The additives were examined for aftereffect; the AF-1 additive gave a prolonged aftereffect and had a high level of antifriction properties, depending on its concentration.
