Abstract

1. Folic acid was parenterally administered in a dose of 250 μg/kg to rats. The rats were sacrificed at 48 h and 96 h after the injection. Angiotensin I and renin activity in the blood plasma and kidney were determined by radioimmunoassay. 2. Renin activity and angiotensin I concentration in plasma were significantly increased by the administration of folic acid, and a linear relationship was observed between both parameters. 3. No changes were found in the kidney weight, its renin and protein contents, and plasma sodium concentration by folic acid administration.
