Abstract
In this experimental work, analysis of the mechanical properties and microstructure of aluminum alloy (A356 and A7075) with basalt and fly ash has been studied. As per the ASTM, the chemical composition test, hardness tests, tensile test and microstructure analysis are carried out. The test results revealed that the addition of fly ash and basalt, the hardness, tensile values and percentage of elongation are increased. The maximum hardness value is observed that weight percentage of A356 and A7075 with 3% fly ash and 7% basalt. Meanwhile, the percentage of elongation has also increased with respect to peak load. A356 with basalt and fly ash composites, whenever the weight percentage of fly ash is increased the ultimate tensile strength has decreased with respect to peak load. In some of the places, cenospheres are observed in the microstructure of the composites. A good bond is observed between the aluminum alloy surface and the basalt matrix interface.
