Abstract

This experiment was conducted to examine effect of inclusion of fermented banana peel by Rhyzopus oligosporus in diets on slaughter weight, carcass weight and carcass percentage, weight and percentage abdominal fat of broiler. The experiment was done based on Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and four replications and each replication consisted of six chickens. The treatment were R0 = without banana peel fermented, R1 = 5% banana peel fermented, R2 = 10% banana peel fermented, R3 = 15% banana peel fermented. Data of the experiment were analyzed, using ANOVA and then continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test. Result showed that level of fermented banana peel affected slaughter weight and carcass weight. However carcass persentage, weight and percentage of abdominal fat was not affected by treatment. Banana peel fermented by Rhizopus oligosporus could can be used maximally 10% in broiler ration. MATERI DAN METODE

Penelitian ini dilakukan selama enam minggu, tujuh hari pertama ayam diberi ransum starter CP 501 kemudian dilakukan penimbangan bobot badan umur seminggu dengan rata-rata 112,30 ± 2,74 g, sejak hari ke-8 hingga 42 hari diberi ransum perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan diulang empat kali dengan menggunakan enam ekor ayam setiap ulangan. Kulit pisang yang telah dipilih, dicuci dengan air bersih, kemudian dipotong ± 5 cm. Selanjutnya kulit yang telah dipotong dikukus menggunakan alat pengukus, selama ± 15 menit dihitung setelah air mendidih. Kulit pisang yang telah difermentasi ini kemudian dikeringkan dan dihaluskan sebelum dicampur pada bahan pakan lainnya. Pengambilan data konsumsi dilakukan setiap hari dengan menimbang pakan yang diberikan dan pakan sisa. Pakan yang terkonsumsi diperoleh dengan menghitung selisih antara pakan yang diberikan dengan pakan sisa, ini dilakukan selama 5 minggu kemudian dihitung rataannya. Ayam dipuasakan selama 12 jam sebelum dipotong, kemudian ditimbang untuk memperoleh bobot hidup.
