Abstract

The creep behaviour of niobium-rich AISI type 347 austenitic stainless steels has been re-examined under conditions which changed the grain boundary precipitation from niobium carbonitride to intermetallic Fe 2Nb particles while maintaining the level of intragranular precipitation strengthening by the carbonitride phase. Fe 2Nb precipitation reduced the creep rupture ductility.
