Abstract

The bacterial community within the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) crucially influences the host health status. To prevent disease and reduce morbidity and mortality, inhibition of pathogenic bacteria proliferation is needed. Bioactive compounds from plants showed an activity on standard gut strains. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of water and ethanol extracts from carrot waste on the growth and viability of gut microbiota in weaning piglets.
