Abstract

Rats given 5 mg/kg/day of ethinyl estradiol (EE) s.c. for 5 days developed hepatomegaly, depressed basal and sulfobromophthalein (BSP) stimulated bile flow. Liver BSP transport maximum (BSPTm) was decreased when expressed by liver weight but was not affected when related to body weight. Triton WR 1339 had no significant effect on the EE-induced changes or on BSPTm.
