Abstract
Objective To explore the effect of establishing family sickbeds on the quality of life of the disabled elderly and their family caregiver .Methods The disabled elderly （ n=244 ） and their main family caregivers （ n=309 ） from Yudong New District in Datong City were chosen , and received the family sickbeds nursing intervention .The quality of life of the disabled elderly and their family main caregiver was compared using the GQOLI-74, before and after the intervention .Results The total score of the quality of life of the disabled elderly after the intervention was （60.21 ±10.89）, which was significantly higher than before （46.49 ±12.81） （t=29.51,P〈0.01）.The total score of the quality of life of the main family caregiver after the intervention was （64.41 ±10.29）, which was significantly higher than （51.79 ±9.83） before the intervention （t =30.14,P 〈0.01）.Conclusions To establish family sickbeds can effectively improve the quality of life of the disabled elderly and their main family caregiver in the community .
