Abstract
Samples of Lexan polycarbonate were exposed to 2-MeV eelctrons for short periods of time. The samples were also exposed to a 252Cf source of fission fragments, and were subsequently etched to develop the fission-fragment tracks. The electron irradiation caused a marked change in the bulk etching rate of the plastic. The experiments leading to this conclusion, and the consequences of the effect are discussed in this paper.
