Abstract

Measurements of Young's modulus of copper following high energy electron irradiation and subsequent heat treatment are reported. The modulus is observed to increase following short exposures at −190°C in three separate temperature regions, centered at approximately −45°C, −5°C, and +80°C. These modulus increases are discussed in terms of the various point defects created by the bombarding electrons.
