Abstract

Objective To evaluate the effect of elastic socks in the prevention of venous thrombosis syndrome, the recurrence of venous thrombosis and the relative risk of death. Methods The databases of PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane library, CNKI, Wanfang were searched for randomized controlled trials (RCT) of application of elastic socks in the venous thrombosis syndrome. The retrieval time was from the inception date to July 1st, 2017. Revman 5.3 software was used to perform Meta-analysis. Results A total of 7 RCTs (n=1 571) were included in the study. The data analysis showed that elastic socks had a preventive effect on venous thrombosis syndrome (OR=0.46, 95%CI: 0.24-0.87, P=0.02) ; it had no significant effects on the prevention of recurrent venous thrombosis and the relative risk of death (OR=0.76, 95%CI: 0.48-1.20, P=0.24; RR=0.99, 95%CI: 0.72-1.36, P=0.94) . Conclusions Elastic socks is a safe and effective nursing measure, which can prevent venous thrombosis syndrome, and is recommended to promote the clinical practice. In addition, the elastic socks have no effect on the prevention of recurrent venous thrombosis and the relative risk of death. Key words: Meta-analysis; Venous thrombosis; Elastic socks
